Cape Symphony Preschool Open House is January 22

An Invitation from Michael Albaugh

Dear Friends,

When we talk about the Cape Symphony, most people think first of the orchestra on stage, the power of live music, and the joy of coming together in the concert hall. But one of the most important things we do happens long before a child ever attends their first symphony concert.

It happens in our preschool classrooms.

I’d like to personally invite you to our Cape Symphony Preschool Open House at 2235 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable on January 22 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, where families can visit, meet our educators, and experience what makes our program so special.

Why arts-infused preschool matters

Research continues to affirm what many of us already know in our hearts: when young children are immersed in the arts, they don’t just learn songs or colors or rhythms. They develop skills that shape their whole lives.

Arts-infused learning helps children:

  • Strengthen communication and early language development
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Practice empathy and collaboration
  • Improve focus, memory, and self-regulation
  • Express emotions in healthy and creative ways
  • Learn to take risks and persevere

The arts give children permission to explore, imagine, and discover who they are. And that kind of learning lasts.

A preschool unlike any other in the country

What makes our program truly unique is this: we are the only Symphony Orchestra association in the country that has a preschool.

That’s not just a fun fact — it speaks to who we are on Cape Cod. We believe the arts are not an “extra.” They belong at the center of a child’s education from the very beginning.

At Cape Symphony Preschool, children learn in an environment shaped by music, movement, creativity, and wonder every day. The result is a curriculum that truly stands on its own — thoughtfully designed, deeply engaging, and built to support the whole child.

Suzuki-inspired violin instruction — in preschool

One of the most exciting parts of our program is our Suzuki-infused violin curriculum, integrated directly into the preschool experience.

The Suzuki approach is based on a powerful idea: children can learn music the same way they learn language — through listening, repetition, encouragement, and a nurturing community. It’s joyful. It’s disciplined in the best way. And it helps children build confidence through steady growth.

To see a preschooler hold a violin for the first time — and watch how quickly it becomes normal to them — is honestly something you don’t forget.

An invitation from my family to yours

If you have a young child, or if you know a family that does, I hope you’ll join us. The Open House is a great chance to explore the classrooms, ask questions, and get a feel for the warmth, quality, and care that our faculty bring to the program.

Because the truth is: when we invest in the early years, we’re not just teaching preschool. We’re building the next generation of listeners, creators, leaders, and citizens who understand the value of beauty, community, and human expression.

We’d love to welcome you.

Warmly,

Mike Albaugh
