Dr. Michael Albaugh
President and Chief Executive Officer
Cape Arts and Entertainment
Dr. Michael Albaugh serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cape Arts and Entertainment, the parent organization of Cape Symphony. In this role, he provides strategic leadership across orchestral performance, education, and community engagement, with a focus on artistic excellence, access, and long-term sustainability. Since joining the organization in 2020, he has guided a period of growth and renewal, strengthening the connection between performance and education while expanding its impact across Cape Cod.
Under his leadership, Cape Arts and Entertainment continues to evolve as a cultural anchor for the region—one that reflects the diverse communities it serves and invites people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the power of music and the arts. Whether through orchestral concerts, lifelong learning programs, youth education, or community partnerships, his work centers on the belief that the arts should inspire, educate, and bring people together.
Before coming to the Cape, Dr. Albaugh held senior leadership roles at some of the nation’s most respected arts institutions. At The Philadelphia Orchestra, he served as Director of Education and Community Initiatives, where he helped expand the orchestra’s presence throughout the city through neighborhood concerts, new audience initiatives, and healthcare and sensory-friendly programs. This work earned the Orchestra the 2019 Kimmel Award for Accessible Experience.
His career also includes leadership positions at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Montclair State University, and Interlochen Center for the Arts, where he served as Director of Music. Across these roles, he has built a reputation for thoughtful leadership, innovative programming, and a deep commitment to arts education.
Dr. Albaugh holds degrees in music education, composition, and music theory, and his academic work has included international research in West Africa focused on Ewe music and culture. As President and CEO of Cape Arts and Entertainment, he brings this broad perspective to a singular goal: ensuring that music and the arts remain vital, welcoming, and meaningful parts of life on Cape Cod.
